This painting is inspired by this selfie of mine, part of a series, which I took at home right after buying a pine-apple and which led me to learn that in history this fruit was so rare and fascinating that people would rent a pineapple to display on their tables during important occasions. In fact, I’ve read of the same pineapple being hired for a dozen different tables in London before it was finally sold to be eaten.
